Life.

"There's no moral to this story, it's just a bunch of stuff that happened!" - Homer Simpson

Everyone has to have a blog about the meaning of Life. Here's mine ;]

So at least once in your life, you will debate about the meaning of Life, even if it's just to yourself, or friends, or some random jerk on the Interwebs. Everyone debates about the meaning of life. Why are we here? What's the point? Did God just put us in a snow glob to watch us destroy ourselves? Is there even a God? Questions we may never know the answers to, even if we die.

I don't remember where I found that quote from Homer Simpson, I've had it on my Facebook for a while now. I first put it there to describe my life so far, it's just a jumble of events, but I thought about it's meaning a little more, and maybe that just describes Life in general, not just mine. Who says any of us has a specific meaning on this planet? You, over there, are going to cure cancer. And you on the left are going to grow up to be a therapist to help people.

No, we don't know that. We invented jobs to make money, so we could survive. It's our way of trade. I'm not saying jobs are pointless, but most we're made just so we'd have money. Life get's more complicated, people get more stupid as things get easier, so we need someone smart to do shit for us.

Ok now back on topic. I don't think we were each put on this Earth to do something specific for the rest of our lives. I think we were put on this Earth to just do good and right. Help someone in need, be a vent for a friend, teach right from wrong, just do good. Maybe it's an experiment for God to see if a bunch of people with different thoughts and ideas can get along, and not destroy themselves, and learn to accept eachother.

So like Homer said, maybe there's no one point to Life, maybe it's just a bunch of events that all happened, just because they did.

Now please don't miss-interpret what I just said. I didn't say Life was pointless and you shouldn't live. What I mean is that maybe we should stop fussing over why we're here, and learn to get along, learn that we all have different tastes, ideas, and do good in the world.

  1. I totally agree. I don't even see why people are always arguing and whatnot. We're on planet Earth TOGETHER. If something happens to the world we al die together. We're all in this together! We're all the same race: The Human Race. We're all practically brothers and sisters. We need to stop fighting and learn to get along.

  2. Nice insight. And a good one to trump debators as it holds the ability to not be biased. I like to think of life as an adventure. Like a fairy tale or something out of a fictional story or comic book. Ofcourse no where near as exaggerated but, the people you meet in life will indeed be CHARACTERS, and no one will be the "straight man" of the story, except maybe our own selves, which is the protagonist. And who the events play out in our heads, be it serious, playful, depressing of the sort, the story still goes on. So I'm just out trying to be adventurous. That makes me much of a here and now kind of person, and I don't really find myself thinking to far ahead in the future, let alone the afterlife. I just lead that part of my thoughts to my Christian faith. And if I do think too much, that's where my imagination falls into play.

  5. I agree and disagree, just to be a prick :) I think there is meaning to life but with a twist. Our lives are what we make them. If we accept what is handed to us we are not finding meaning. So the meaning of life is what we are willing to make it. Had a good random thought on my blog today "If we define our lives we limit ourselves"

You're already at the end of the post, the big white box is right there, so empty and lonely, why not leave some love? :)
